Know the Season
“Determine what season you are in so your work can be effective and productive.” Bishop Michael Pitts
Dear friends,
Just a few thoughts I have taken from a sermon I recently heard online by Bishop Michael Pitts, Latin-American Bishop to Pastor Samuel Rodriguez.
1 Chronicles 12: 32 “From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.”
Issachar means, “Your reward will come. If you understand the times and act accordingly – your reward will come.
This season of Covid-19 has changed a lot of things for a lot of people. Here at LAMA House we have been stuck for almost 2 years; unable to travel outside the city, we cannot do anything we know to do! Not being productive is frustrating for me, but we do have a plan for the future, for a new adventure, and that gives us hope.
What Season are you in?
I would say we are now between Winter – a time of lack of work and preparation, and Spring – a time of ploughing and planting again. We have been able to store up ready for Winter. Everything is shifting! We can get the job done in a new way. Our work has changed but we hope to be more effective and productive in the future.
Hard-workers are uncomfortable with a lack of activity, but there was a deep need for prolonged rest to prepare us for what will happen later. We were battle-worn.
So now we must not be distracted by what others are doing – they might be in a different season. We have had to down-size and cut back. But we have finally been able to renovate LAMA House and our own home and cultivate the land so it can be more fruitful. That is our goal – to be more fruitful!
Before the pandemic hit I remember tentatively submitting to God for Him to prune us , like the vine, so we could be more fruitful! And I was struck by these words – wrote them out and pinned them to my bulletin board in the kitchen:
ALIGN not HUSTLE
Let go of the idea that you must be constantly working and grinding in order to be successful.
Instead know the truth that rest, recovery and reflection are essential parts of progress and a happy productive life.
And that is where we are at – the Season we are in! May we ultimately be more fruitful – Until He comes!
Love from Lesley, Peter, Michael, Jeli, Ana and Simon x
