A place for young men with Special Needs
Biography
Lesley Gomez
Lesley Gomez left England at 22 to serve as a missionary in the Philippines. Today she and her husband Peter run LAMA, a charity and safe house for the abandoned boys of the streets.
The boys were praying in their evening devotions for Tony’s safe return home, after he wandered away over the weekend. Staff had searched far and near when thankfully he was spotted by Fidel, a former LAMA boy now living and working in Urdaneta, a nearby city. He saw Tony in the Plaza and immediately informed us. Please pray we will soon find a solution or make our own to provide a place to teach livelihood skills for boys with Special Needs who are now young men. Tony and Wowie – it seems there is no other place for them but LAMA House and it would break our hearts to let them go somewhere else. They have been part of our LAMA family for 9 years. If we still cannot find a more specialized facility, we need to upgrade and create another home to better provide for them. Our vision, after all, is: To provide for boys who have nowhere else to go – for as long as it takes.
